BEFORE THE STORM
Live rain and storm radar for Sulphur Springs and the counties around it, updated roughly every ten minutes. Drag it, pinch or scroll to zoom, and scrub back through the last couple of hours.
If a storm has already been through, you do not have to guess what it did to the roof. A free inspection gets you photographs of whatever is up there, and a written report you can keep whether or not you ever file a claim.

Northeast Texas weather is hard on a roof in three specific ways, and knowing which one you are dealing with changes the fix entirely. Two of the three leave nothing you can see from the driveway, which is why so many roofs around here get replaced years earlier than they needed to be, and why so many others get quoted for replacement when a repair would have done.
Bruising and mat fractures often leave no visible hole at all. Hail shortens a roof quietly, which is exactly why it is worth photographing early rather than after the damage finally shows.
Uplift breaks the seal strip along ridges and rakes. The shingle looks perfectly normal from the driveway and lifts by hand once somebody is up there.
Attic temperatures cook a roof from underneath through four months of the year. Ventilation is the simplest thing on a roof to put right and the most often left alone.

“Within just one hour of my request, they had a drone in the air and a full estimate with photos in my inbox. The pricing was very reasonable, the work was finished exactly on time and to a high standard.”
That is the whole idea. Somebody local gets on the roof, photographs what is actually there, and puts it in writing before you have to make a single decision.
Most people do not think about their roof until something forces them to, whether that is a stain spreading across a ceiling or a hailstorm that had half of Sulphur Springs at the window watching it come down. At that point the question is not really whether you need a roofer. It is who you can call and get a straight answer from.
We are based here. The crew that shows up at your house is our crew, and when you ring the office about a warranty question three years from now you will be speaking to the same company that put the roof on. That continuity is most of what a workmanship warranty is actually worth.
And if what we find is a repair rather than a replacement, we will say so. That happens more often than people expect, and an honest flashing repair on a roof with years left in it is a better outcome for everybody than a job nobody needed.
Being the roofing contractor in Sulphur Springs that is physically in Sulphur Springs also decides how quickly things happen. A free inspection here is usually a matter of days rather than weeks, and a storm call with water coming in jumps the queue the same morning.
It also means we know the housing stock. Whole streets in this town went up in the same couple of years with the same details, so the same things fail on them at the same age: the same vent boot type perishing, the same sidewall detail on the same rear addition design. On a street we have already worked, a call about a leak often starts with a reasonable idea of where it is before anybody puts a ladder up.

Up on the deck with a camera, looking at the things that actually tell you the condition: seal strips, granule loss, and the details where the roof meets everything else.
Granule loss, seal strips that have let go, flashing where the chimney meets the field, and whether the attic is breathing at all. Yours to keep whatever you decide.
In writing, so you can hand it to anybody else you are getting a price from and compare like for like.
Every review below is from a customer in these counties. The full set is on our reviews page.

WOW! DJJ Roofing was here at the crack of dawn and before sunset our house had a brand new beautiful roof. The young men on Eliceo’s crew worked tirelessly and professionally under his watchful eye. We were very impressed. Good company, good management, and great price.
Very customer friendly and easy to work with from start to finish. DJJ Roofing made the whole process simple and stress-free.
There is no single best roof for Northeast Texas. What suits a house on a shaded street near downtown is not what suits a shop out on acreage, and the honest answer depends on the building and on how long you intend to own it. Any roofing contractor in Sulphur Springs will fit all four of these systems, so the useful question is not which one we sell but which one your building actually wants. Here is how the options shake out around here.

Handles the heat, comes in impact-rated classes that some carriers apply a credit for, and is straightforward to repair years later. We install Owens Corning, GAF and CertainTeed systems so the underlayment, starter, ridge and ventilation all come from one manufacturer, under one warranty.

Concealed fasteners, no exposed screws to back out, and a service life that often outlasts the owner. It prices as a premium option, but on a house you intend to keep it is frequently the lowest cost per year of service. Hail damage on it is usually cosmetic rather than a leak path, because nothing penetrates the weather surface.

The workhorse systems for shops, barns and equipment sheds, of which Hopkins County has plenty. Economical and fast over a large area. The trade-off is that the fastener washers are a maintenance item every decade or two, and we will tell you which building deserves standing seam and which genuinely does not.

For flat and low-slope commercial roofs: churches, offices, retail units, and the occasional residential addition framed almost flat. Both systems live or die on the detailing at the edges and the drains, which is where the work actually is.
You do not need to be a roofer to spot most of these, and the point of the list is that you can check six of the eight yourself in ten minutes without leaving the ground. If two or three sound familiar, book the inspection. Free genuinely means free, and it includes the times a roofing contractor in Sulphur Springs tells you nothing needs doing this year.

A handful of grit in the gutter or at the bottom of a downspout is the shingle shedding its protective layer. New roofs shed a little. A roof that fills the gutter every season is past halfway through its life.
If the seal strip has let go, the shingle is no longer a waterproof surface, it is a flap. This is the most common wind damage in Hopkins County and the hardest thing to see from the ground.
Vents, gutters, downspouts and flashing bruise before shingles show anything. If the metal on your roof is dimpled, the field almost certainly took the same hit.
Water travels along the deck before it drops, so the wet patch is rarely under the hole. A stain means it has been getting in for a while.
Stand in the attic in the middle of the day with the lights off. Pinpricks of light mean gaps, and gaps mean water and wildlife.
Poor intake or exhaust ventilation cooks shingles from underneath and shortens their life by years. It is one of the simplest things to put right and one of the most overlooked.
A dip in the roof line usually means the decking underneath has been wet long enough to lose strength. That is a structural issue rather than a shingle issue.
Houses in a neighborhood tend to be the same age and take the same storms. If three roofs on your street are being replaced, yours is worth a free look.
Hail bruising fractures the mat underneath the granules, and the roof carries on shedding water afterwards exactly as it did before. Wait two seasons and establishing that the storm caused it becomes very difficult, which is why the photographs matter more than almost anything else.
What we do is narrow and we would rather be clear about it than promise something that is not ours to give. We inspect at no cost, document what can be observed from the roof, and prepare factual scope information. Your carrier decides coverage and payment. We never predict an approval.
We also do not waive, absorb or discount a deductible, because Texas law does not allow a contractor to. The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth keeps the storm reports for this part of Texas, which is worth knowing because a claim is far easier to discuss when the date of the event is established rather than recalled.
Photographs taken in the days after a storm are evidence. A description offered three years later is a memory, and the reporting deadline runs from the storm date rather than from when you noticed.
A denied claim is not a neutral event. If what your roof needs is a repair, we would rather say so than send you into your deductible for nothing.

The National Weather Service has logged 30 severe weather reports in Hopkins County since 2022. These six are the ones nearest Sulphur Springs. They are worth knowing because an insurance claim runs from the date the damage happened, not the date a ceiling stains, and that date is often months earlier than people think.
Most homeowners ask a roofing contractor in Sulphur Springs for a ballpark first, so here it is: replacing the roof on an average single-story home with asphalt shingles typically costs $6,000 to $14,000, including tear-off and haul-away, while metal runs about $12,000 to $30,000 or more and Class 4 impact-resistant shingles about $10,000 to $17,000. Those figures are typical for Northeast Texas, not a quote, and the inspection that turns them into a real number for your roof is free. Prices by home size and material are set out in our roof replacement cost guide.
Nobody can quote a roof accurately without seeing it, and any number given over the phone is a guess. These are the six things that move the figure, so the estimate makes sense when you read it.
Roofing is priced by the square, meaning 100 square feet, and a steep roof takes longer and needs considerably more safety setup than a walkable one.
Tearing off two existing layers costs more in labor and in disposal than stripping one, and it is not always obvious from the ground how many are up there.
Rotten or delaminated decking gets replaced. It is the one item nobody can see in advance, so we quote it per sheet up front rather than surprising you mid-job.
Valleys, dormers, chimneys, skylights and multiple planes all mean more flashing, more cutting, and more places water has to be handled properly.
The gap between a builder-grade three-tab and a standing seam metal system is substantial, and so is the difference in service life. Both are legitimate answers on the right building.
Bringing intake and exhaust ventilation up to specification sometimes adds a line, and it is one of the few upgrades that pays you back in shingle life.
Nobody can price a roof properly from the driveway. Book the free inspection and you get photographs of what is actually wrong, plus a written estimate you can keep and compare.
Most single-family replacements around Sulphur Springs are a one-day job. The crew arrives early, protects the ground and the landscaping, and works through in order. It is genuinely noisy while it is happening and it is over faster than most people brace for.
Worth doing beforehand: move vehicles off the driveway, take fragile pictures off the walls, and plan any calls for somewhere other than directly under the roof deck. Pets are usually happier somewhere else for the day.
At the end of every working day the yard and the driveway get a magnet run over them, and the debris goes with us rather than sitting in a pile until the job finishes. On a one-day job that is a single sweep. On a larger roof it happens every evening.
The one thing that can extend a job is what turns up once the old covering is off. Decking is the only part of a roof nobody can assess in advance, so the estimate carries a per-sheet rate for it and we show you the photographs of anything we replace. On most houses here it is a sheet or two. On a roof that has been leaking quietly for a couple of seasons it can be more, and you will know the number before we carry on rather than afterwards.

Tarps down, landscaping covered, and the old roof stripped back to the deck.
Any rotten decking replaced, then underlayment so the house is watertight before anything else.
Starter, field, flashing, ridge and ventilation, all to manufacturer specification.
Magnets over the yard and drive, debris hauled away, then we walk the finished roof with you.
Alongside the houses, Hopkins County has offices, churches, equipment barns and metal buildings that all need roofs and rarely get the same attention. This is dairy and cattle country, and a great many of the working buildings out on the county roads are on exposed-fastener panel that went up decades ago.
Commercial work runs differently. The inspection looks at drainage and ponding as much as the membrane, the schedule has to work around the business staying open, and the maintenance plan matters as much as the installation did. We are comfortable being the company that comes out twice a year to check the drains rather than the one that only appears when there is water inside.
On agricultural buildings the most common piece of work is not a new roof at all. It is comprehensive fastener replacement on a panel roof whose washers finished years ago, which routinely buys another decade for a fraction of the cost of re-roofing.
Churches are their own category and they come up more than people expect. They tend to have steep planes, long unbroken runs, and a low-slope section over an addition somewhere, and the budget conversation usually involves a committee rather than one owner. We are used to quoting those in stages so a congregation can do the urgent section now and the rest next year, with the photographs to show why that order makes sense.

Sulphur Springs is our home town. Our shop is on Como St S, so this is where we start from rather than somewhere we travel to. Most inspections here get scheduled within the week, and storm calls with an active leak jump the queue.
For a single-story 2,200 sq ft home in Northeast Texas, a new architectural shingle roof typically runs about $12,000 to $18,000 installed, including tear-off and disposal. A two-story home of the same size has less roof, so it usually costs less. Pitch, the number of layers coming off and any soft decking move the number either way. These are typical ranges, not a quote, and the real figure comes from measuring the roof at a free inspection.
Most single-family homes here are a one-day job, start to walkthrough. A larger or more complex roof, or one that turns out to need significant decking work, can run into a second day. We will tell you which we expect before we start rather than after.
That is your carrier’s decision against your policy. What we do is inspect for free, photograph what is there, and write it up factually so the claim is decided on evidence rather than on recollection.
You call the same number and the same company. Our workmanship warranty runs ten years and it is issued in writing, and the manufacturer covers the materials separately. A warranty is only worth the company still being here, which is the main practical argument for using somebody local.
